The parents of a 4-year-old girl found murdered and dumped in Manorville 10 years ago were extradited to Central Islip Thursday to face charges.
Police say Jennifer Shafiq's body was dumped near the LIE in Manorville in 1990, but wasn't discovered until six years later. Parmjit Singh, the girl?s father, was arrested in May in California, where the estranged couple now resides, on an unrelated charge. It was then he told authorities that his wife, Khairual Abdul, murdered their daughter 16 years ago. Police say Shafiq was beaten and tortured by her parents for six months until her body was found in a shallow grave.
Abdul was charged with second-degree murder and Singh was charged with hindering a prosecution for not reporting the murder earlier.
