Jingcai Zhou, 34, and Lu Lu, 28, both of Flushing, Queens, are charged with reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child.
Nassau County Police Department giving an update on the arrest of the Flushing couple for the reckless endangerment of a one-year child that occurred yesterday in Manhasset.
News 12 obtained exclusive video that shows crews pulling the boy from the hot SUV.
Police say the child was left in the car for an hour in 80-degree weather, which made temperatures inside of the car about 120 degrees.
When he was rescued, he was crying, red in color and drenched in sweat.
Emergency room pediatrician Dr. Katrina Hernandez, of NYU Langone Hospital, says there is no safe amount of time to leave a child alone in a hot car.
"The hotter it gets, the higher the temperature can rise, and the hotter it is for the baby's body to be unable to tolerate that temperature and eventually can lead to death," says Hernandez.
Crews immediately took him to the hospital and authorities say he is expected to be OK.
The parents are expected back in court next month. The judge ordered them to take a parenting class.
