The Oyster Bay town supervisor presented citations of appreciation Thursday to a community that rescued a family pet.
Toretto, a terrier mix, escaped from his home on Surrey Lane in Massapequa Park last month.
The dog's owner, Donna Rowan, says her family and friends started spreading the word of the disappearance on social media and helped put up flyers in the neighborhood.
The supervisor presented the citations to several 7th Precinct officers, volunteers, and members of a Facebook group who helped bring Toretto home.
Rowan's other dog, Diesel, also escaped but was found the next day.
