Oyster Bay officials warn residents about fake donation bins

Officials say the illegally-placed boxes are usually made of wood with stenciled lettering.

A warning if you're planning to make donations in the Town of Oyster Bay. Officials say crooks have been setting up fake donation bins to collect items and sell them for a profit.
Officials say the illegally-placed boxes are usually made of wood with stenciled lettering.
Some of the boxes even have bogus phone numbers or names of fake charities.
If you see a bogus bin you can report them to the town by calling 516-624-6200.
