The Town of Oyster Bay deposited the last of the over 12 million baby oyster and clam seeds that they place into the harbor throughout the year.

The town grows the oysters and clams at its shellfish hatchery until they are mature enough to be placed into the harbor.

Town officials say they hope that restoring the shellfish population will boost the local economy and improve the quality of the waterways.

Officials say just one oyster can filter over 50 gallons of water.
