Long Islanders in Oyster Bay are coming together to raise money for longtime resident John Ranaldo.
He's known in the neighborhood as the "Can Man."
"He has always been polite and friendly," says one Oyster Bay resident.
A GoFundMe was started after Ranaldo was struck by a car back in February.
"I think it's a wonderful thing the community is coming together for someone in need, someone that really needs it more than most, says Tom Whelen, who started the fundraiser.
So far, more than $13,000 has been raised.
