The Town of Oyster Bay is working to strengthen its marine life.
Local officials say the town will be collecting clam shells from restaurants with the help of environmental advocates.
They will be picked up on a bi-weekly basis and stored at a town facility where they will go through a curing process.
The town will then return the shells to the bays where they will be reused to help restore local shellfish populations.
