Pool halls and billiards remain shuttered due to the pandemic as more places reopen.

Diamond Jims Billiards & Pub is not only racking up debt, it is also losing $10,000 a week in business.

Owner Stephanie Werner says she is giving herself until the beginning of 2021 to reopen or it will close.

Werner purchased the billiards hall three weeks before COVID-19 shut down New York. She says she thinks state officials forgot about the industry.

Ryan McAleer runs the Hudson Valley chapter of the American Poolplayers Association, the biggest in the state, and says the industry is in a stalemate. He says many of these businesses have closed already.

On the state's website, pool isn't listed under restricted recreation. But bowling, which is now open, is. The State Liquor Authority says pool is banned under its Q&A section.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo's office tells News 12 that activities like pool and darts "lead to mingling," increasing the risk of spreading.

The business owner says social distancing is easy because tables are already 6 feet apart and equipment can be cleaned.

The state has not provided any timeline for when activities like pool can resume.
