Summer's nearly over, but traffic headaches could be just beginning on the Loop Parkway.

A construction project will resume next week to replace the steel deck on the drawbridge.

The roadway, which connects the Meadowbrook Parkway to Point Lookout, will be closed from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. from Monday, Sept. 18 until Friday, Sept. 22.

Starting Tuesday, Sept. 19, traffic on the drawbridge will be reduced to one lane in each direction for approximately eight months.

The drawbridge is 89 years old and is prone to mechanical problems.

Drivers wishing to circumvent the construction can take the Long Beach Bridge from Island Park instead
