A stolen dog from Huntington Station was found wandering the streets in another state but has been returned home.

Lisa Nguyen says her reunion with Bandit is a miracle. The dog was stolen from her house in June and found all the way in New Jersey.

"I was in shock, I was in disbelief, but I was just overwhelmed with joy" Nguyen says. "Over the moon that I got my baby back."

The 9-year-old Shih-Tzu poodle mix has epilepsy and is on multiple medications.

Nguyen says worrying about Bandit every single day was "torture."

Nguyen thinks the dog could have gotten out of the yard through the space underneath her deck.

Police say Bandit was stolen by a man who fled in a car described as a possible Mercury Grand Marquis.

Because of Bandit's microchip, Nguyen got a relieving phone call from a New Jersey police officer.

"He asked me if I was missing a little dog named Bandit - white and brown - and I said yes," Nguyen says. "I was hysterical - he was in bad shape. Just dirty, very smelly, wet, he was wet and just distraught."

Bandit is now wearing an Apple AirTag so Nguyen will always know where he is.
