A Levittown woman was mistakenly declared dead, which led to her losing important tax exemptions, officials say.
Nassau GOP leaders say Ann Mazze was reported dead by the county's Department of Assessment.
They say the 95-year-old lost her Enhanced STAR benefits, which made her property taxes go up by nearly 300%.
"I don't know where they came to this conclusion, I mean really it was an assumption on their part," says Mazze. "This has upset me terribly, plus the fact paying that money every month, where do I get it? The bank don't want to know anything nobody wants to know anything. I want this fixed, I want it fixed now."
News 12 reached out to the county executive's office for comment and is waiting to hear back.
