Officials seize 18 dogs from Shelter Island home

The building inspector deemed the residence unsafe for entry and said the home could not be occupied.

Officials say 18 dogs were seized from a Shelter Island home.
Shelter Island Town Police, animal control, the building inspector and Suffolk County SPCA raided the home on North Ferry Road on Thursday.
The building inspector deemed the residence unsafe for entry and said the home could not be occupied.
The dogs were transported to three Long Island shelters to be treated as needed.
