Officials say overtime pay for officers in Nassau County has increased.

The County Comptroller's Office says overtime jumped by 13 percent for the first six months compared to a year ago, according to Newsday.

Officials say the jump should improve now that 30 new officers have been hired and another 80 could soon come on board.

The police commissioner says voluntary buyouts to reduce the budget gap left the department's staffing down by about 200 cops.
