Officials
say an LIRR train hit a van, pinning the driver inside in Patchogue.
MTA police, LIRR personnel and EMS
responded to the scene around midnight.
The driver of the vehicle was transported to a hospital. Circumstances as to why
he was on the tracks are under investigation.

12 has learned teams worked to free the victim for over 30 minutes.
Two eastbound trains and the
westbound incident train were canceled. Buses
were provided on the Montauk branch between Sayville and Bellport while MTA police conducted their investigation and
LIRR personnel worked to remove the vehicle and inspect the equipment and
tracks.
All passengers aboard the train were safely transferred to shuttle
buses.
Full service on the Montauk Branch
was restored at 2:45 a.m. with trains operating on or close to schedule.
