The New Jersey Forest Fire Service says to expect smoke for several days in the area of the former ski area mountain, Craigmeur, until there is significant rainfall in the area.

Crews will be monitoring for the next several days to improve containment and to ensure everyone's safety.

This fire burned over 202 acres and is now 85% contained according to officials. No homes were damaged and no injuries were reported.

Friday night, over a dozen homes were threatened by the fire and eight homes had to be evacuated. Firefighters from local fire departments in Bergen, Essex, Passaic, Sussex, Morris and Warren counties came in to help with protection. Green Pond Road was closed but is now reopened.

Fire crews first started battling the wildfire Thursday night. The cause of this fire is still under investigation.

All of New Jersey is at the highest level of fire restrictions. The Forest Fire Service says they have been to more than 350 wildfires since September 15.
