There is a new effort to make sure residents don't get scammed by shady sellers on ticket resale websites.

New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman sent letters to StubHub, Vivid Seats, Ticketmaster and TicketNetwork, demanding they "self-police."

He wants the sites to make sure that ticket brokers show their reseller license number and include the face value of the ticket next to their asking price.

"New Yorkers deserve a fair shot at purchasing tickets to their favorite concerts and events and my office will continue to crack down on anyone who breaks our laws to prey on ordinary consumers," said Schneiderman.

There is no current limit in New York on how much someone can sell a ticket for.



Schneiderman is recommending state legislators re-institute a cap on resale.
