Man suffers medical event after escaping from burning home in Hicksville

According to the Nassau County Fire Marshal Office, the man went into cardiac arrest. Bystanders performed CPR in front of the burning home until paramedics arrived.

A man was critically injured when he suffered a medical event moments after escaping from his burning home.

According to the Nassau County Fire Marshal Office, the man went into cardiac arrest. Bystanders performed CPR in front of the burning home until paramedics arrived.

The fire started at around 3:45 p.m. Wednesday on Page Drive in Hicksville.

The husband and his wife, both in their 60s, escaped the flames.

The were both taken to Nassau University Medical Center. The husband was listed in critical condition. His wife was listed in stable condition.

Their names were not released.
