Two people were seriously injured, and eight others were hospitalized for carbon monoxide poisoning Thursday at a Brentwood home, police say.
Officers responded to the home at 150 American Blvd. at 7 a.m. when a 911 caller reported a resident feeling sick.
Police say it was determined that a carbon monoxide leak originated from an oil burner malfunction.
An 87-year-old man and his 52-year-old son were transported to the hospital for serious injuries, police say.
Eight other residents, between the ages of 10 and 42, were also transported to the hospital for minor injuries.
A Town of Islip spokesperson tells News 12 that violations will be issued "for some missing smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. They had some, but not all that are required. "
