Six firefighters were injured Sunday afternoon in a five-alarm Locust Valley house fire.

Officials say they received a call around 3:50 p.m. about a fire on 1 Great Meadow Rd.

Over 10 fire departments arrived at the scene to help douse the flames.

Officials say five of the injured firefighters refused medical attention. The other was treated at a hospital for minor smoke inhalation.

They say the fire started in a garage and spread to the rest of the home.

Fire officials say there was someone home when the fire started and the house ended up in very bad shape after the fire.

The cause of the fire or any additional injuries were not immediately clear as of Sunday night.
