Two officers were injured when a "large melee" broke out Friday at the Nassau County Correctional Facility, according to an official.
Nassau County Sheriff's Correction Officers Benevolent Association President Brian Sullivan says the incident happened around 12:30 p.m. during a Muslim service at the jail.
One officer injured his knee and ankle while responding. Another suffered shoulder and back injuries. Both officers were transported via ambulance to the hospital with injuries not considered to be life-threatening.
Sullivan says there were no major injuries to any inmates, who all received medical attention at the jail.
Officers later found a razor during a sweep of the area, but it's unclear if the razor was dropped during the fight or was already there. No one was slashed during the brawl.
