An office worker in Ronkonkoma says Fed Ex, UPS and United States Postal Service workers are taking up handicapped parking spaces at her office building off Veterans Highway.
Monica Jones has taken pictures of the delivery trucks in three handicapped spots. Jones says she confronted a letter carrier about the issue who told her, “I do it all the time.”
She says she was able to get in touch with all three agencies. Jones say Fed Ex and UPS immediately apologized and have since stopped using those parking spaces.
Jones did receive a letter of apology from the USPS, but says she saw a truck return to the handicapped spaces last week.
Illegal parking in a handicapped spot can cost between $50-75 for a first offense, and $75-150 for a second offense. The law also allows vehicles to be towed from those zones.
