The Office of Addiction Services and Supports provided an update on the statewide opioid epidemic Monday.
It reports that more than 700 Long Islanders and more than 4,500 New Yorkers have died from opioids in 2021.
"Our residents of New York state need us to add to this picture somehow in a way that will address the magnitude of the lives still being lost," says one board member.
The Opioid Settlement Fund Advisory Board working to figure out where its funds should be
distributed to fight back against the epidemic.
