An off-duty officer's split-second decision saved the life of a man in cardiac arrest Saturday.
Suffolk police say Officer Michael Mason was walking down East Broadway in Port Jefferson Village just before 4 p.m. when he saw a 62-year-old man collapse.
They say that's when Mason jumped into action, calling 911 and performing CPR.
With the help of two responding officers, the victim had regained pulse by the time Emergency Medical Services arrived.
