An off-duty NYPD officer is being called a hero this morning after he helped a bus driver and an aide escape a burning bus.
Police say the minibus went up in flames after colliding with a box truck on the LIE near exit 70 in Manorville.
Off-duty officer Christopher Canale pulled over yesterday afternoon and saved the driver and aide who were trapped inside.
There were no children on the bus.
The aide suffered a minor injury, but no one else was hurt.
