The NYPD announced it's replacing commanding officers in both the Special Victims Division and Hate Crime Task Force.
The news comes after reports that Mayor Eric Adams was presented with irregularities in how attacks against Asian New Yorkers were being conducted compared to victims from other communities.
An NYPD spokesperson tells News 12 in part, "The Hate Crime Task Force works tirelessly to investigate all hate crimes and bring justice to the victims. Recent changes to the Hate Crime Task Force were not related to this case nor were they disciplinary in nature."
A statement was also issued regarding the Special Victims Division saying, "All transfers and command assignments are made based on the needs of the department."
