Police say they responded to a 911 call just before 8 p.m. of a motor vehicle accident on the expressway and found a 55-year-old man unconscious and unresponsive in the northbound lane.
They say the man was trying to cross the northbound lane when he was struck by a vehicle.
The man was taken to Jacobi Medical Center but died due to his injuries.

The New York City Office of Emergency Management says drivers can expect traffic delays. They advise drivers to consider taking alternate routes and allow for additional travel time.
