School districts across New York have spent the summer trying to set up protocol on rating teachers and principals, although those new evaluations won?t be available until September 2013.

News 12 Long Island today asked New York State Education Commissioner John King if he approves of the teacher evaluation system, which has faced opposition from teachers unions that don't want their ratings made public."I was very concerned that you might have teachers' names and their ratings listed in the newspaper, so I was pleased that the legislature and governor reached a compromise that avoided that scenario," King said.The compromise, reached in June, will allow parents only to access the ratings of their child's current teacher.
