The Norwalk Public Library honored a local historian on Tuesday.

A dedication ceremony was held at the library's history room in honor of Ralph C. Bloom.

Bloom founded the room in 1972 to protect and share documents, photographs and records that tell the city's history for future generations. Bloom also volunteered with the room from 2012 to 2025.

"I'm very pleased. There's a 54-year-old collection in that room. I always felt that a part of my being was to go out and rescue records and fate was kind because we have things going back to the 18th century," he says.

Bloom says the library is working on digitizing the collection, so people can conduct research online.

Outside of the library, Bloom was a volunteer coordinator at the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum and later served as its curator
