The Northport-East Northport District will not be getting armed guards.

Northport schools have held meetings on the idea over the past several months.

While some are in favor, many parents and students are opposed.

The Northport-East Northport school board has voted against the placement of the armed security personnel in all school buildings.

The superintendent says other new security measures are now in place throughout the district.
