Students at North Babylon High School were searched upon entrance to the school Thursday as part of increased security measures.
The hike in security is due to a string of recent threats at the school. The most recent threat was found Wednesday in a girls? bathroom. The school was evacuated after the threat was discovered.
The school is only giving students access to certain bathrooms, which are being monitored by staff. Students must also sign in and out when using the facilities. In addition, students are being required to wear their ID cards around their necks.
Students at the school told News 12 Long Island that the developments have them feeling nervous. Others shrug the threats off as pranks.
A school district spokeswoman says Suffolk County police are interviewing several students that may be responsible for the three violent threats. The school superintendent says those responsible for the threats will be prosecuted.
