(05/25/07) JONES BEACH ? The nor?easter that tore through Long Island in April is still causing ill effects on some beaches.
Field 4 at Robert Moses State Park is the area still most affected by the storm. George Gorman, regional operations director for Long Island's state parks, said only half of that facility will likely be opened by the originally scheduled date of June 16. Gorman hopes Mother Nature will have replenished enough sand to bring things back to normal at Field 4 by the Fourth of July.
Everything seems to be business as usual at Long Island?s other beaches in time for the Memorial Day weekend. Several events are scheduled for the unofficial start of summer, including the Bethpage Federal Credit Union Air Show.
