The Center for Urban Community Services, also known as CUCS, provides vulnerable New Yorkers with housing and services.

The program also has services and programs for tenants and families to keep them on track through this housing transition.

"Our CUCS team is an integrated model of case managers, mental health clinicians, on-site psychiatry," says Adina Barbosa.

Yudelka Ferrera, a tenant at CUCS, was in a domestic violence shelter for years with her three children.

Ferrera says she dealt with years of trauma and didn't see the light at the end of the tunnel until she found CUCS.

"It was a really bad situation, but I came through and CUCS helped a lot," says Ferrera.

Ferrera says her and her children's lives have changed for the better. She says both of her daughters were able to get stable jobs through the programs at CUCS.

"One of them is in security and the other is in child care," says Ferrera.
