The legal battle between the Suffolk OTB and civic leaders has been put on hold.
A Supreme Court judge reserved his decision until a later date over the proposal to build a gambling parlor in Medford.
Suffolk OTB wants to build a 90,000-square-foot facility on the South Service Road of the Long Island Expressway between Route 112 and Horseblock Road.
The proposal includes 1,000 video lottery terminals.
Opponents claim gambling facilities aren't allowed at that location because of town zoning. They filed a lawsuit trying to stop the project.
While the judge mulls his decision, Suffolk OTB says it's moving ahead with its plans.
"Not only is it a great location, because it's near a major thoroughfare, but it's a great location because it's a proper use under the zone," says Anthony Pancella, Suffolk OTB's vice president. "We don't anticipate any problems moving forward."
Suffolk OTB says it's planning on submitting plans for the gambling parlor to Brookhaven town officials within a week. After that, the proposal will be sent to the County Planning Commission for review.
