Saturday marks one year since a North Bellport man was shot and killed, and his family is still waiting for answers as his killer is yet to be caught.
Robert Burks, 52, was gunned down walking home on Bellport Avenue. He was shot and killed a few doors down from his own.
"He didn't have any beef with anybody," says Connie Burks, the victim's sister. "Supposedly it was a robbery gone bad ... Everybody in town knew my brother, knew he had no money."
Family members say Suffolk police have not taken his homicide seriously.
"They need to get on the job and find out who killed my brother," says Lisa Dozier, another sister. "We don't think they care ... I don't see them out there doing no leg work or knocking on doors."
Dozier acknowledges that people in the neighborhood who claimed to have information right after the slaying changed their stories when interviewed by police.
"All these people claim they had mad love for my brother, but nobody's stood up," she says. "They don't want to get involved, or maybe they don't want to be a snitch."
"The streets talk, but the streets never testify," says Connie Burks. "I wish that somebody would come forward, if they do know ... and let the police know, so my brother can rest in peace."
