A New Jersey doctor vacationing in Russia is being called a hero for helping tend to patients after a helicopter crash.

Dr. Konstantin Balashov is a professor of neurology at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital. He was visiting the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia and took a helicopter tour. The helicopter had engine trouble and was forced to make a hard landing.

There were 23 people on board and Balashov was the only one with medical training. He tended to three people who were hurt and took care of their wounds until medical professionals arrived.

Everyone is expected to be OK.

Balashov says that when everything calmed down, he spent the rest of the day fishing.
