News 12 Long Island has learned that a possible school bus strike could now be imminent.
According to Newsday, union leaders have unanimously rejected a contract proposal from the bus company. 
The union says it plans to put the matter to a vote of its entire membership.
However, the union is calling for more talks with a federal mediator.
There's been no reaction from the bus company Baumann and Sons.
A strike could affect thousands of school kids across the Island.
