Newsday is running a Funbook that compiles the 50 best summer activities to enjoy on Long Island this summer.

One of the writers of the list, Shawna Vanness, says one place everyone will want to see is the newly redone Long Beach boardwalk. She says this is the first time since Sandy that the entire boardwalk is finished. That includes all of the great eateries residents have come to expect from the area.

Vanness adds that people don't even need to leave the boardwalk to grab a bite to eat and take a walk on the beach.

For water park loving Long Island residents, the Splish Splash water park in Calverton also has some new rides and attractions to enjoy. Vanness mentions a new pirate-themed ride that is opening up this summer.

Vanness also adds that there are always opportunities to go fishing if getting soaked doesn't seem like a good time.
