The Long Island Rail Road is reportedly testing new technology to purify the air circulation on trains, according to Newsday.
The railroad is considering replacing the filters on the heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems with an electric grid.
They say that would kill nearly 100% of airborne viruses and bacteria.
The technology is being tested on one train car and could be rolled out across other LIRR trains.
Ridership is down to a fraction of what it was before the pandemic begin.
