News 12 Storm Watch Team Meteorologist Meredith Garofalo spoke with a Nassau County high school Girl Scout troop on Sunday about being true to themselves while building their legacies.
The national nonprofit HERicanes organized the event. The group focuses on promoting female leadership and empowerment through speaker events and mentoring programs.

The girls had the opportunity to ask Garofalo questions about her career and experience while she was a Girl Scout in high school.
Garofalo shared with the girls some personal experiences and also advised them about navigating media influence, social pressures, and mental health issues to discover their true authentic selves and reach for the stars.
