Rep. Nick LaLota tells News 12 a group of House Republicans will meet with President-elect Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago this weekend at a strategy meeting where SALT deductions are expected to take center stage.
Reps. Mike Lawler, Andrew Garbarino and Nicole Malliotakis will also be at the meeting.
Lawler says representatives from the tri-state area will have a chance to drill down on the SALT topic.
Democratic Rep. Tom Suozzi says the SALT cap needs to be increased and he's willing to work with Republicans to get it done.
Deductions for SALT, which stands for State and Local tax, were capped at $10,000 when Trump took office in 2017. LaLota says he and other New York Republicans will fight for an increase in the SALT cap.
