A heartless act ended in goodwill and generosity Friday when a custom-made walker was donated to a disabled girl, whose walker was stolen from her Brentwood home earlier in the week.
Eight-year-old Brianna Martins suffers from cerebral palsy and needs a specialized walker to get around. Police say the girl?s walker was stolen from her driveway on Claywood Drive around 8:30 a.m. Monday. Brianna?s principal says the walker was specialized to her needs and not easily replaced.
The United Cerebral Palsy Association of Greater Suffolk contacted the manufacturer, Rifton Equipment, about the situation. The manufacturer donated a brand new $3,000 walker to Brianna.
