There is opposition brewing in Commack over a plan to redevelop a run-down shopping strip into a larger shopping complex that will include a Chick-fil-A and a Dunkin Donuts.
Residents who live in the neighborhood that borders Commack Road say they are tired of the traffic.
"I know of at least four petitions going through the neighborhood and my wife has signed every one of them," says Donald Smith, of Commack.
The residents who live in Huntington across the street from the shopping center say Smithtown is not concerned with their quality of life.
"It's really frustrating that the town of Smithtown is not taking our concerns seriously because we pay taxes to the town of Huntington," said Amanda Roth, who has been leading the charge against complex.
Roth and other residents say they are not against redevelopment. They just want a plan that does not include two drive-thru windows.
News 12 called the town of Smithtown to get a response regarding resident's concerns. They have not returned calls for comment.
The next meeting on the proposed site is scheduled for July 28 in Smithtown.
