Neighbors fight to stop Annette Genco from turning Massapequa home into day care center
A petition is being circulated in an attempt to stop a Massapequa woman from turning her home into a private day care center.
Annette Genco says she's doing everything by the book and getting approval through the state to turn her North Maple Street home into a day care center.
"I don't know why they're so upset about this, it's called a family day care," says Grenco. "It's up to eight children."
Neighbors complain it would change the landscape of the community and affect the quality of life.
"I don't want to have a business right next to me," says neighbor Mila Hantman.
The Town of Oyster Bay says it is looking into the conflict.
"At this time, there are a number of unanswered questions with the proposed day care center in Massapequa," the town said in a statement. "We are currently in the process of collecting information to determine if the town's zoning authority is applicable."
