Nassau police pulled a woman's body out of a pond in a Wantagh park Tuesday, nearly a month after conducting a four-day search in the water.
Although police are still waiting for the medical examiner's report, they believe the body to be of Wantagh resident Laurel Buianouchas. Workers at Forest City Community Park discovered some of Buianouchas' clothes beside the pond on November 27, one day after she was reported missing by her son.
A neighbor called 911 Tuesday after spotting the floating body. Police believe the 58-year-old, who suffered from dementia, must have been entrenched on the bottom of the pond during their search.
