A severely injured dog that was apparently hit by a car and subsequently neglected needs help.
As News 12 previously reported, the SPCA found the 1-year-old beagle mix tethered outside in a truck yard in Central Islip last week. He was tied up on a short leash with a broken leg and no water.
The dog, Frankie, was apparently hit by a car a week earlier and was never taken to a vet. Amner Mendoza , of Brentwood, was charged with animal cruelty.
Frankie now needs surgery to save his leg. Chief Roy Gross, of the Suffolk SPCA, says the surgery to save Frankie’s leg costs $6,000.
