Thanksgiving travelers should expect tight security today.
Officials say this is the busiest Thanksgiving weekend for travel in eight years.
Train may be the best option for Long Islanders heading to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. There will be six extra westbound trains in the morning and 11 extra eastbound trains in the afternoon.
About 3.6 million Americans are flying to their Thanksgiving destinations, despite airports being on high alert. More people will need to be screened, and there will be more random security checks. The TSA could also spend more time inspecting luggage, meaning longer lines.
Nearly 47 million people are expected to travel today, mostly on the roads thanks to lower gas prices.
