"Peter Pan Live" took flight live Thursday night from Grumman Studios in Bethpage. News 12's Elisa DiStefano went backstage before the show aired on NBC.
Considered the Hollywood of the East, Grumman house two huge soundstages for the production - Neverland and Captain Hook's pirate ship. The set building and rehearsals had been underway for four months. The biggest challenge - learning how to fly!
Fran Bachman, of Grumman Studios, says it's amazing to see the studio transformed. "The art, the craft, the talent, the soul that's involved in [the] making of Peter Pan," she says. "I have never seen anything like this before."
Last year, 19 million people tuned in to watch "The Sound of Music Live," which was also broadcast from the studios.
