The Nassau Kings wheelchair basketball team hit the court Saturday during the Kings Tournament in Westbury.
The team will be tipping off against other teams from around the United States this weekend. The Kings are currently ranked third in the nation.
Jack Lopez, of Elmont, was born with spina bifida and has been a member of the Kings for nearly 10 years.
"Having a disability is a very small community, it's more of a family than just a basketball [team]," says Lopez. "We all hang out with each other, a lot of us have been playing with each other since we were kids."
The team will be competing for a national championship in April during a trip to Kentucky.
The Kings Tournament will continue Sunday at the Yes We Can Community Center in Westbury.
