Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman’s plan to deputize residents with gun licenses is getting more pushback.
A group of residents delivered a petition Monday against the proposal to the Legislature.
The group says more than 1,600 people have signed the petition.
As News 12 has reported, the plan would deputize pre-screened citizens with a gun license only during a state of emergency.
Blakeman says this would add an extra layer of protection.
However, groups like “Mom’s Demand Action” say it is dangerous and unnecessary.
