A Nassau County police officer was charged with DWI and assault Wednesday, nearly a year after the accident that prompted the charges occurred.
Police say Robert Jones, 45, was off duty when he crashed into a parked car on Main Street in Roslyn, seriously injuring the driver last April.
Authorities say investigators recently obtained the results of the blood tests taken after the accident. The results show Jones was legally drunk.
Jones has been suspended without pay. He was released on $500 bail.
